Samarkand Governor to send joint working group of biotechnologists and farmers to study Gujarat’s success story of natural farming

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on the second day of his visit to Uzbekistan today held a detailed discussion with Samarkand Governor Erkinjon Turdimov explaining Gujarat’s achievements in natural farming and other fields.

He explained how the emphasis on natural farming with maximum utilization of naturally available substances at almost zero cost could at the same time reduce the use of hazardous chemical fertilizers and pesticides, as to how cow dung and urine mixed with other natural substances could provide the nutrients as manure to almost 10,000 hectares of farm.

Impressed, the Samarkand Governor evinced interest to send a joint working group of their biotechnologists and farmers to study the Gujarat’s success story of natural farming. The Gujarat Chief Minister assured him extending the state government’s all cooperation to the visiting study group.

During their post-lunch session, they held fruitful discussion to explore cooperation in other areas of mutual interest like textiles, agro-processing, pharmaceuticals and tourism. Higher officials of Samarkand-Uzbekistan Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Innovative Developments had also joined the high-level delegation from Gujarat.
